The AFENET Director of Programs – Dr Simon Antara provided technical and teaching support for the Burkina Faso FETP Mentors and Supervisors training from 30 January 2018 to 1 February 2019. The training was for 40 Mentors and Supervisors of the West Africa FELTP which comprises of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinee-Bissau, Guinee-Conakry, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The training was technically supported and funded by AFENET.
Burkina FELTP Cohort III Didactics and Field Placement
The recently enrolled Cohort III of the Burkina Faso Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) participated in a class module training from 2 November 2018 to 31 January 2019. Cohort III comprises of 37 residents from 9 West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinee-Bissau, Guinee-Conakry, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The residents comprise of Public Health Officers: Physicians, Biologists, Veterinarian and Pharmacists. Class modules were completed on 26 January 2019 and residents sat for their exam on 29 and 30 January 2019. Cohort III residents have been deployed to their respective countries for first round of field placement that will run until to September 2019.
AFENET Management Team visits Burkina Faso FETP
A team of AFENET Management, Dr Chima Ohuabunwo, Executive Director, Dr Simon Antara, Director Programs and Burkina Faso Faculty and AFENET Staff: Dr. Joseph Otshudiandjeka – Field Coordinator Burkina Faso Frontline Program, and Dr Bernard Sawadogo, Regional Coordinator West Africa Francophone visited the Burkina Faso FETP on 25 January 2019. In their encouragement to the Burkina Faso FETP, residents where reminded of the core competences of field epidemiologists and were encouraged to complete all their deliverables.
