Public Health Surveillance and Outbreak Investigation Training

Tanzania Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (TFELTP) conducted a training on public health surveillance and outbreak investigation for 21 Cohort XI TFELTP residents from 7 - 23 January 2019. The training was facilitated by FELTP staff and faculty from Muhimbili University School of Public Health. The training covered areas such as: Principles of Public Health Surveillance, Principles of control of infectious diseases, Principles of Outbreak Investigations, Designing the surveillance systems, and Surveillance for injuries among other session.

Cohort X Dissertation Data Collection Thirteen Cohort X residents started data collection activities for their dissertation project started on 7 January 2019 and will take 2 months. Four residents are yet to get IRB clearance. Dissertation topics range from communicable to non-communicable. After data collection the residents will report to their respective regional field sites where they will work under the supervision of regional medical officer.
