Staff of the Burkina Faso Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (BFELTP), made supervision visits to each of the eight countries under the program. BFELTP is a regional program, enrolling residents from Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
The aim of the supervision visits conducted from 20 May to 12 July 2019 was to assess residents’ progress and score their achievements. The team specifically reviewed the following activities: surveillance data analysis, evaluation of surveillance systems and outbreak investigations. They also reviewed residents’ final field activity reports and abstracts submitted to conferences. At the time, three abstracts had been accepted for presentation: two for ESCAIDE Conference to be held from 27 – 29 November in Stockholm, Sweden and one for the Pharo conference which will take place from 2 – 4 October 2019 at the School of Pharo - in Marseille, France.

- BFELTP held a steering committee meeting from 29 to 30 July 2019 in Ouagadougou/Burkina Faso
- The second and last didactic session for Cohort III residents is scheduled for 02 September - 18 October 2019.
- BFELTP will launch Cohort IV on 1 November 2019.
