Intermediate Course Activities
Module 3 class sessions
• Module 3 class sessions were conducted in Mtwara from 1 - 7 July 2019. All trainees and mentors attended the training. All class sessions were completed as per the lesson plan. The following topics were covered: Bias and confounding; writing field reports; public health literature; public health communications (abstracts and scientific presentations); Single overriding Communication Objective (SOCOs). Trainees also presented their data quality assessment (DQA) results from field unit 2 assignment.
Cohort IV Module 3 Training
- Module 3 Training for Cohort IV was conducted on July 1-6, 2019. The training was facilitated by the TFELTP Residents Advisor and FELTP alumni and Cohort IV trainees. The 15 trainees were from Mtwara region, Lindi regions in Tanzania. Somewhere from the National AIDS Control Program (NACP). Module 3 covers public health communication, leadership, teaching, mentoring, and preparation for HIV program evaluation (epidemiologic study).
- Cohort began their field unit 3 (data collection and analysis for HIV program evaluation) on 8 July 2019 and is expected to end on 4 September 2019. The evaluation will focus on viral load suppression among adults receiving care in the Mtwara, Lindi, and Dodoma regions. The databases created during these studies will be combined for a group report.
The TFELTP program steering committee meeting was held on 2 July 2019. During the meeting, several issues regarding the program were discussed. The meeting was chaired by the CDC Resident Advisor and co-chaired by the Public Health Advisor (CDC Atlanta).
