AFENET in collaboration with Ministry of health, Kampala Capital City authority and Inter-Aid Uganda an urban refugees agency, conducted a one day Polio sensitization meeting for leaders and community informers of the Somali and Congolese refugees in Kampala. The objective of the meeting was to provide basic information on routine immunizations, polio and AFP surveillance and build confidence of community leaders and informers to detect and report cases of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) in their community.
The meeting was attended by 42 participants of these 30 were refugees: 15 Somalis and 15 Congolese. Participants included community health workers ranging from Village health team members (VHTs), Community Health Extension workers (CHEWS) or mobilisers.
