On 26 September 2019, the Nigeria Primary Health Care Development Agency, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and AFENET, disseminated findings of an evaluation of the District Health Information System (DHIS) 2 Routine Immunization (RI) module and dashboard which was conducted in 12 states (2 from each of Nigeria’s 6 geo-political zones).
The DHIS2 RI module which was first piloted in Kano state in 2014, was rolled out in all 36 states and the FCT by December 2017. The project has built capacity of over 67,270 health personnel on RI data management. In 2018, the DHIS2 platform was adopted as the only reporting platform for Primary Health Care (PHC) data.
The dissemination meeting was attended by over 70 participants, and was chaired by Dr. A. B. Garba, the Acting Director, Planning Research and Statistics, who echoed the Government’s commitment to ensuring the availability of high quality data. Present at the event were: State Executive Secretaries, State Emergency Routine Immunization Coordinating Centers (SERICCs) Project Managers, State Immunization Officers (SIOs), state DHIS2 focal persons, implementing partners and donor agencies.
