DRC FETP residents and graduates are involved in the response to 4 disease outbreaks across the DRC. These include the10th & 11th Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Outbreaks, Polio, and COVID-19.
A total of 111 residents and graduates of the DRC FETP are currently spread across 6 African countries (DRC, Burkina Faso, Mali, Madagascar, Niger, and Republic of Congo) with partners to respond to different outbreaks based on available information. DRC FETP residents and graduates are involved in more than one activity. A total of 69 FETP residents are being supported by CDC/AFENET are currently deployed in the field responding to polio and EVD.
In the period from 3 - 9 August 2020, FETP residents covered 10 health zones which include: Mbandaka, Ingende, Lilanga, Bobangi-Bikoro, Wangata, Lolanga, Mampoko, Bolomba, Bolenge and Lotumbe for monitoring and contact tracing for COVID -19. Residents are involved mainly as team leaders for particular health areas and rapid response team members in health zones. Teams successfully visited 39 out of 46 health facilities
