The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is a not-for-profit networking and service organization dedicated to improving health outcomes of the communities we serve in liaison with ministries of health and other partners. Strengthening capacity for public health preparedness and response through Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs {FE(L)TPs}, and other applied epidemiology training programs is one of our core activities.
Established in 2005 with our Secretariat in Kampala, Uganda, we have presence in over 40 countries and at least 700 personnel in various locations.
The Growing Expertise in E-health Knowledge and Skills (GEEKS) CDC Team from Atlanta, alongside AFENET staff, visited Luweero General Hospital & Nanyimbwa Health Center 4 in Uganda to assess the Tickler box system's impact on tracking missed immunizations in children.

Un programme régional de formation en épidémiologie de terrain de niveau intermédiaire a été officiellement lancé le 10 mars 2024, à Brazzaville. Cette cohorte comprend 21 résidents dont 14 hommes et 7 femmes (17 issus de la santé humaine, 3 vétérinaires, 1 environnementaliste).
Les représentants régionaux d'AFENET & REDISSE ont assisté au lancement. La facilitation a été assurée par des conseillers résidents de la République du Congo et de la RDC, ainsi que par des mentors et des responsables du ministère.
