BRIAN KAGANZI: I have seen firsthand how AFENET fosters innovation and trust in its people

With 30 years of work experience, I’ve had the privilege of spending nearly half of that time since 2011 – at AFENET. It’s been more than a job; it’s been a journey of growth, impact, and connection. Starting in the Finance Department and later playing a role in establishing the Internal Audit and Risk Management function, I’ve seen firsthand how AFENET fosters innovation and trust in its people.
Working across departments and with colleagues from diverse African cultures has broadened not just my professional skills, but my worldview. AFENET has shaped not just what I’ve done, but who I’ve become – and that, to me, is what matters most.
Some of my fondest memories go beyond work – like spending a warm, heartfelt Christmas in Kabale (western Uganda) with a colleague’s family. Such friendships have made AFENET feel like home.
Watching the organization evolve – navigating challenges, celebrating milestones, and adapting with purpose – has been deeply inspiring. As we look to the future, I believe that fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and open communication will be key. We should not just achieve our goals as an organization but also ensure that the lives of those who make this organization what it is, are lived with purpose.
