Dr. Paulinus Sikosana
Dr. Paulinus Sikosana is a public health specialist with over 25 years’ experience in public health medicine, health systems development, strategic planning and health sector reforms in developing country settings. He was Secretary for Health and Child Welfare in Zimbabwe, held the positions of Technical Advisor responsible for coordinating the design and implementation of the Essential Health Package (EHP) and Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) in Malawi, Senior Health Planning Advisor in the Ministry of Health in Mozambique and Health Sector Advisor to AusAID and the National Department of Health in Papua New Guinea (PNG). His last assignment was that of Team Leader for Health Systems Strengthening and Social Determinants of Health in the WHO country Office in PNG, where he retired from the WHO. He has extensive experience working with national governments (ministries of health), bilateral and multi-lateral development agencies, senior members of government and stakeholders in the private “not for profit” and “private-for-profit” sectors.
His country experience includes working in various capacities in Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Papua New Guinea. Presently he is the Executive Chairman of the Health Service Board which is a body responsible for employing and setting conditions of service for health workers in the public health sector in Zimbabwe.
