AFENET’s Board of Directors made a working visit to the organization’s secretariat in Kampala, Uganda on 20 September 2019. The purpose of the visit was to interact with staff and reassure them of the Board’s support for the work they do in service to Network members and partners.
In his remarks, the AFENET Board Chair - Prof Mufuta Tshimanga thanked staff for their commitment, and urged them to do even more for the growth and sustenance of AFENET.
The Board of Directors comprises Program Directors drawn from AFENET members, key stakeholders and an eminent member of the public health fraternity. Members of the current Board of Directors are Prof Mufuta Tshimanga - Chair and Program Director Zimbabwe FETP, Dr Kebela Ilunga – Program Director DRC FELTP, Dr Cynthia Sema – Program Director Mozambique FELTP, Dr Ernest Kenu - Program Director Ghana FELTP, Dr Elizabeth Ekirapa - Program Director Uganda FETP, Dr. Josephine Githaiga – Program Director Kenya FELTP, Dr Peter Nsubuga – eminent public health professional, and Dr. Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam - WHO Country Representative, Uganda.
The Board’s visit to the Secretariat was preceded by a pre-scheduled quarterly Board of Directors’ meeting. Also in attendance were the Senior Management Team: Dr Simon Antara – Ag. Executive Director, Dr Herbert Kazoora – Ag. Director Programs, Mr Christopher Tanui - Director Administration, Ms. Agnes Kiggundu - Director Finance, and Mr. Bwakura Muchengeti - Director Internal Audit and Risk Management.
