HE Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health Ethiopia
HE Dr. Dereje Duguma, State Minister of Health Ethiopia

AFENET was honored during a special recognition meeting held to celebrate the success of Ethiopia’s nationwide integrated health campaign conducted in May 2025. The campaign brought together measles and polio vaccination, nutrition support, and maternal and child health services, reaching millions across the country.

The meeting, convened by the Ministry of Health, focused on reviewing the campaign’s effectiveness and recognizing key partners who contributed to its success.

Her Excellency Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health, emphasized the critical role such integrated efforts play in reducing maternal and child mortality—key targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. She commended the campaign’s efficient use of resources and health workers to deliver a wide range of essential health services simultaneously. Dr. Mekdes expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders for their commitment and support.

State Minister of Health, Dr. Dereje Duguma, underscored the collaborative nature of the campaign, involving federal and regional governments as well as partner organizations. He noted the remarkable achievement of vaccinating over 18.5 million children against measles—more than 1.5 million of whom had never received a measles vaccine before—thanks to strong community engagement.

AFENET is proud to have supported this milestone initiative and remains committed to advancing integrated public health services across Africa.
