From 25 – 26 March 2025, a team of AFENET secretariat staff and Tete Province Senior Public Health personnel conducted a field exercise, setting out to reach isolated communities harboring zero dose and under immunized children, that had been mapped under the Community Mapping Project being implemented by AFENET.

This project aims to apply the use of geographic information system (GIS) mapping to identify, and reach missed communities experiencing major barriers to immunization, to reach Zero Dose and under immunized children. The pilot project will contribute to strengthening microplanning for routine immunization and Supplemental Immunization Activities (SIAs) and aims to improve immunization coverage and ultimately make a contribution to reducing morbidity and mortality due to vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in Mozambique.
