Baseline and Capacity-Building Needs Assessment for the project on Strengthening One Health-Based Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (PPR) in Greater Virunga Landscape (GVL)

The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) was selected as lead consultant for a baseline assessment commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Uganda Country Office — a study spanning Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The work brought together field epidemiologists, researchers and conservation specialists across the three countries. In Uganda, the study was led by Principal Investigator Dr. Immaculate Nabukenya, working alongside Dr. Christine Kihembo, Mr. Jacob Bibohere, Dr. Kalule John Bosco and their team. The Rwanda arm was driven by Dr. Vincent Mutabazi and Ms. Jeanette Batamuliza with their colleagues, while in the DRC, Dr. Gauthier Mubenga and Dr. Linda Matadi anchored the effort.

Throughout the study, technical guidance came from WWF-UCO officials Mr. Paul Hatanga, Ms. Jenifer Alaba and Mr. Victor Arinaitwe, whose input shaped the direction of the assessment at every stage.
