From 13 to 17 April 2026, Maputo City hosted, in a hybrid format, 17 mentors from six provinces, Maputo City and Maputo Province, Inhambane, Sofala, Tete, Nampula, and Cabo Delgado, for intensive training on the new FETP Frontline curriculum. The event focused on integrating the One Health approach, which is essential for addressing zoonotic threats, as they account for more than 60% of emerging diseases.
The distinctive feature of this training was its focus on strengthening adult mentoring competencies. By equipping mentors with modern pedagogical tools, the program ensures more targeted support to district surveillance officers, resulting in epidemiological products of greater technical rigor that respond practically to local health needs.
The interactive “teaching and response” methodology enabled a rich exchange of experiences among mentors from human, animal, and environmental health sectors. This investment in mentor capacity strengthens the FETP Frontline model, ensuring more effective technical support to district surveillance officers and contributing to more timely detection and response to public health emergencies at the local level.
