Prof. Ernest Kenu

Prof Kenu is the director of the Ghana Field Epidemiology Training Program and the immediate former AFENET Board chair. He is a professor at the University of Ghana School of Public Health. His research interests include Epidemiological, evaluation and pharmacokinetic studies in HIV and TB; Adolescent HIV cohort studies; Epidemiological studies in HIV, TB and malaria and NCDs; Disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, control and prevention, and use of GIS in modelling disease patterns (Anthrax and Buruli ulcer).

Prof. Kenu has taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses, shaping the next generation of public health professionals. His undergraduate teachings include “Epidemiology: Principles and Methods” and “Child Survival Programmes” focusing on immunization and the management of sick children. At the postgraduate level, he delivers advanced courses such as “Principles of Field Epidemiology Methods,” “Public Health Surveillance,” and “Fundamentals of Clinical Trials.” His pedagogical approach combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring that his students are well-prepared for real-world challenges.

Prof. Kenu’s academic qualifications are both extensive and diverse, encompassing degrees, fellowships, and certificates from prestigious institutions. He holds a PhD in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Ghana.
