Dr. Simon Antara, Director of AFENET, led a high-level delegation to Tanzania to engage with key stakeholders and strengthen collaborations in field epidemiology. Accompanying him were Mr. Christopher Tanui, Head of Operations, and Dr. Ahmed Abade, Resident Advisor for Kenya FELTP and former Resident Advisor for TFELTP.
The team met with senior officials at the Tanzania Ministry of Health in Dodoma, including the Chief Medical Officer and key department directors. They also visited national field placement sites such as the Epidemiology Section and the National Malaria Control Program, where they interacted with FELTP residents and graduates.
In Dar es Salaam, the delegation engaged with TFELTP staff to discuss ongoing program developments. The visit will continue with engagements at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to further strengthen partnerships for advancing public health and field epidemiology training in Tanzania.
