The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) has deployed 15 staff to support the ongoing 5th round of the polio vaccination campaign in Ethiopia, reinforcing efforts to interrupt poliovirus transmission and strengthen immunization coverage.
The team was deployed across various regions from 24 March to 5 April 2026, providing technical and operational support throughout the campaign period.
The campaign was officially launched today in multiple regions across the country. However, Dire Dawa, Afar, South Ethiopia, and Harari regions are not included in this round.
AFENET staff are supporting key activities including microplanning, supervision, data management, and community engagement to ensure that all eligible children are reached during the campaign.
This deployment reflects AFENET’s continued commitment to supporting national and regional efforts to eradicate polio and strengthen public health systems across Africa.
Additional updates, including photos and field highlights from the various regions, will be shared as the campaign progresses.
