Burundi Frontline FETP Cohort III Graduation Ceremony, March 2023

Burundi FETP held the graduation ceremony of her Cohort III frontline FETP on 28 March 2023. The ceremony, which was held at the National Institute for Public Health Conference Centre, was chaired by the Minister of Public Health and Fight against HIV/AIDS, Dr Sylvie Nzeyimana represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health and Fight against HIV/AIDS, Dr Olivier Nijimbere. Also present at the event were Dr Pissang Tchangai Dademango – Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Prof Joseph Nyandwi – the Program Director of Burundi FETP and the Director General, National Institute for Public Health, Dr Munekayi Padingani – the Resident Advisor AFENET Burundi, FETP mentors and other partners

Twenty health workers graduated from the frontline FETP cohort III giving a total of 58 graduates so far from the program. The graduates, as part of their program deliverables, produced weekly epidemiological bulletins, conducted outbreak investigations, routinely analyzed the surveillance data and provided the policymakers with the needed evidence for policy formulation and review.

The cohort which commenced on 14 November 2022 had health workers from different levels of the health system. Fifteen were District Health Information Officers, one National Health Information Officer, one M&E Officer from HIV/AIDs program, and one officer each from the Emergency Operation Centre, National Health Institute and Animal Health unit.
