In July 2024, the Tanzania Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (TFELTP) organized one-day workshops for field site supervisors at both regional and national levels. These workshops aimed to familiarize supervisors with the practical training that residents are expected to receive, while also providing a platform to discuss best practices for effective supervision and address any questions.

The workshops took place on July 29 and July 30 at African Dreams Hotel in Dodoma. The regional workshop featured supervisors from the Kigoma, Kagera, Mbeya, Mwanza, Arusha, Dodoma, and Morogoro regions, alongside CDC implementing partners such as Management and Development for Health (MDH), Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS), AMREF Health Africa, and ICAP.

The national workshop brought together field supervisors from various Ministry of Health directorates, sections, and programs where residents are assigned, including representatives from the Ministry of Health Zanzibar. Other participants included staff from AFENET, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, and Mzumbe University.

Throughout the workshops, supervisors were oriented on the Tanzania FELTP, their roles and responsibilities, and the overall field attachment process. They also identified and discussed the challenges faced during field attachments, proposed practical solutions, and developed actionable steps to address these challenges.
