Implementation of End Quality Improvement of COVID-19 Response for the FCT, Abuja, Nigeria – Phase 2

Background:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, is the second epicentre of the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria, The FCT has recorded a total of 23 617 cases with 224 deaths as of 8th December 2021.Considering the increasing daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the FCT and limited human and financial resources available to the Territory to respond to the pandemic. The FCT will be supported with funding from the project “End-to-End Quality Improvement of COVID-19; Testing, Case Investigation, and Contact Tracing” to address the above. The project is aimed at entrenching the timeliness metrics and performance management to strengthen government response to the current global pandemic and future outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Objectives:

  • To establish a routine monitoring system and program-wide performance improvement for the COVID-19 response
  • To establish the flow and integration of COVID-19 data to support evidence-based interventions in the COVID-19 response
  • To propose strategies to improve vaccine uptake in the FCT 

Expected outcome(s):

  • Strengthened government response to COVID-19, current global pandemics and other future infectious disease outbreaks.
